Babywearing Dance Classes

Just as Mama and baby move to the same heartbeat in the womb, so will we sway and move in sync during our dance classes. Group dancing is a wonderful way to bond with your baby, meet new caregivers and get fit.

Designed for all levels, sequences are easy and low impact incorporating steps from jazz, tap, latin, and line dancing. Our goal is to create a safe and fun environment for both caregiver and baby.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: At what age can my baby participate in BabyWearing Dance classes? We recommend your baby has started being able to support its own head and neck. There is no upper age limit. Both caregiver and baby should be comfortable using a baby carrier for 45-60 minutes.

Q: Who can participate? Parents, Caregivers and pregnant Mamas are all welcome. No dance experience necessary. While Mamas clearance from a doctor or midwife is recommended, above all trust yourself and your readiness.  Participant must be able to carry baby for the whole duration of the class, 45-60 minutes.

Q: How can I carry my baby safely during the class?

Please read and follow the manufacturer’s instructions prior to using your choice of baby carrier. Test your carrier around your home first.

The baby should be “Visible and Kissable” – this means making sure that the baby's face is not pressed into the carrier or caregiver’s body.

For more babywearing safety tips, please visit the Babywearing International website and Baby Carrier Industry Alliance website.

Q: What if baby becomes fussy, hungry, or sleepy? Desert Birth & Wellness provides a very baby-friendly environment so fussiness, hungriness, and sleepiness are all to be expected. Babies needs come first, so please feel free to take a break and pull up a chair or feed your baby while in carrier if your baby needs to eat before, during or after class. The rhythm and movement of the class combined with being held close to their caregiver, keeps most babies content and often times asleep throughout the class.

Q: What do I bring to class? Please bring your own already tested inward facing hug position babywearing carrier of your choosing. Wear comfy workout clothes and shoes that allow for freedom of movement. Bring water and whatever baby may need.
